Jonathan Levie is Professor of Entrepreneurship & Regional Development in the J.E. Cairnes School of Business & Economics at the University of Galway. He has been practising, researching and teaching entrepreneurship for over 40 years.

His course “Founder Selling”, co-created with John McArdle, VP Global Sales at Channel Mechanics and Melissa Moore The Retail Advisor, is one of very few courses on selling that is specifically designed for business founders at any university. It is now on offer to every early-stage entrepreneur via a University of Galway microcred called “Selling for Founders”.

The course content draws on interviews and focus groups with a wide range of early and late-stage entrepreneurs in Ireland and similar courses at elite universities in the United States to help founders develop a structured and confident approach to customer discovery, validation and acquisition.

When he is not teaching selling for founders, Jonathan co-directs the University of Galway’s Centre for Entrepreneurial Growth & Scaling.

Melissa Moore is an award-winning Consultant, Mentor, Trainer and Lecturer with over 25 years experience. Through her business, The Retail Advisor, she empowers retailers and brands to reach their potential through sales growth and excellence in customer experience.

As host of one of Ireland’s most popular business and entrepreneur podcasts The Retail Tea Break, Melissa brings together industry experts, retailers and brands to decode myths and share their knowledge Melissa lectures both undergraduate and post graduate level covering modules including international sales and business development.

She also works on the Sales and Retail Apprenticeship programmes.Since 2021, Melissa has been collaborating with Professor Jonathan Levie to co-create and co-deliver a final year undergraduate course called “Founder Selling” which has now been turned into a micro-cred for the J.E. Cairnes School of Business & Economics at the University of Galway.
