Steering Group

Our industry-led Steering Group helps plan events, develop new courses and promote sales as a career, in collaboration with education providers.

Sales Professionals Network
Chair 

Darragh O' Connor is Head of Sales for Glasson Lakehouse and the Dean Galway. A graduate of Shannon College of Hotel Management and having recently completed a course in Professional Sales Management at UCD, there are two things that he is passionate about - Sales and Tourism. He is the founder and Chairperson of Galway Convention Bureau an organization set up to attract International Conferencing to the City & County. He also serves as the current President of the Skål International Galway. He was elected onto Galway Chamber of Commerce Council for 2021/2022 period.


Darragh O'Connor- Director of Sales and Marketing at Glenlo Abbey Hotel and Estate. Darragh has a wealth of experience within the hospitality sector having been involved with luxury properties within the MHL Hotel Collection of Glenlo is part of. He was also involved in the opening of the Dean Hotel in Galway City and the repositioning of Glasson Lakehouse Hotel in Athlone. A graduate of Shannon College of Hotel Management and having recently completed a course in Professional Sales Management at UCD, there are two things that he is passionate about - Sales and Tourism.

He was founder and Chairperson of Galway Convention Bureau. He is the Chair of the Sales Professional Network, within this role his aim to promote and develop Sales by engaging with key stakeholders across all sectors and industries. The network enables members to connect and build sales expertise, while building a coordinated approach to sales team talent development between industry and third level education and training providers.

We are looking for more volunteers for formal positions for the Steering Committee.

A minimum of 12 months commitment is desired.

Attend quarter meetings, mostly one every quarter and if we hold an event attend to a few more short meetings when the event is being organized.

 

The roles we are seeking volunteers for are:

 

  1. Vice-Chair:

  • Work with the Chair on strategy

  • Input on event design

  • Lead meetings if the Chair is absence

  1. Public Relations

  • Draft press releases for events/news (1-2 per quarter)
